Woburn Wedding… Martin & Maxine’s fabulous red themed wedding

Woburn is such a wonderful place for a wedding! If you make a weekend of it, there is so much for your guests to see and do. The famous Safari park, the amazing Woburn Abbey with it’s beautiful gardens and deer park, and 18 hole golf course. The beautiful St Mary’s Church and the picturesque village with wonderful cafe’s and antique shops…

Thank you so much to Martin & Maxine for your fabulous photos! Your day was amazing and your kindness shone through, in the way you included even the smallest guests, making them feel an important part, of your special day.

Garter photo

The bride chose the custom colours, personalised wedding garter, with dark red text and matching garters for her maids. One of them told me later, it made her feel quite cheeky, knowing she was secretly wearing it!

Photographed in the private courtyard, outside their suite at the Charming 18th-century Woburn Hotel, part of the Duke of Bedford Estates.

I usually take photos of the garters as I’m making them, but can’t find these! This is a close up of a custom colours wedding garter in cream. Here it’s personalised with navy blue text…

Then the Groom is arriving at the church…

The groom arrived at the church in style, driving a Lamborghini Aventador! Going back to collect the grooms men, one at a time, thoroughly enjoying the drive!

When the groom sees the bride…

Inside St Mary’s, the ornate carving, frames the wedding service…

St Mary’s was built in the 1860’s, commissioned by the 8th Duke of Bedford and lies on the border of their Woburn Estate.

The church bells are ringing, to let everyone know the wedding has taken place!

All smiles, leaving the church…

Wait for it…

Confetti time! Just love this photo!

Such a lovely couple, everyone was included, making sure they had pictures sitting in the car if they wanted!

Lucky wedding horseshoe

Outside the church, the bride was given her lucky horseshoe by a flower girl…

I make horseshoes to match any of my garters and bespoke too, even with your own sentimental fabrics and jewelry.

The bride having a glam photo with the car, suddenly thought it would make a great garter photo…

And so another cheeky, fun photo, before the happy couple took the car for a spin through the countryside… The groom said they pulled up at a junction and people saw they were a wedding couple, they got huge grins, thumbs up and waves, everyone joining in their happiness!

it was a beautiful autumn day and Woburn Church glowed in the sunshine! With it’s unusual red door and warm stone brickwork the church was a beautiful backdrop for photos.

A huge thank you to Martin & Maxine for the generous use of your photos!

The Woburn Estate

We drive through the Woburn deer park regularly, choosing to go the long way, it’s such a pleasure to see the different breeds of deer, enjoying this beautiful space.

I have heard that some deer are Chinese, gifted to a previous duke, now rare in China. With the estates breeding program, they have been able to send some back, to re-establish the deer over there.

Note…

At the beginning of my career, I made nightwear, lingerie and boudoir cushions for a bride getting married at Woburn Abbey’s sculpture gallery and later went on to take part in charity fashion shows held there, organised by the late Mary Biswell MBE.

It was lovely to go full circle with Martin & Maxine’s wedding at Woburn church and their reception at the Safari Lodge.

The Safari Lodge is a unique venue for a wedding reception, overlooking the Swan Lake, your guests might even see a meerkat or two!
