Designer Wedding Garter
I bought some of the most beautiful cotton embroidered lace from the old Nottingham lacemakers, Fewkes. They made lace for Princess Diana’s wedding and their lace is now quite rare. So knowing how precious it is, I wondered how I could make the ultimate designer wedding garter…
If you love embroidery, I hope you’ll love what I’ve done with it here. I decided to use tiny flat sided freshwater pearls this time. Highlighting the embroidered flowers with pearls… Tracing the patterns on the leaves with small seed beads.

I must admit, I don’t like things to look skimped and have taken the embroidery all around the garter, making the back as beautiful as the front. Then continued the embroidery through to the narrow silk band, blurring the line between lace and silk.
Each section of embroidery on this designer wedding garter alternates between ivory freshwater pearls and gorgeous peachy nude shades. All beautiful natural colours that coordinate perfectly with the latest designer bridal gowns.
This garter is designed to sit flat on your leg to show the embroidery which would be lost in gathers.
The main photograph I’ve taken is before it’s finally finished so that you can see the delicacy of the lace and embroidery. I hope you love my work and think it’s worthy of the title ‘designer wedding garter’!
As always, I’ll stitch a tiny blue bow inside your garter.
